We would like to express our gratitude toward the kind folks at the Ellen White Estate and the Biblical Research Institute for their assistance on a number of these allegations. Although they are not responsible for our articles, they have been quite helpful in the research when asked. Special thanks to Roger Coon, former Associate Director of the Estate, who has always been more than willing to share his essays and research whenever asked. While we are not officially connected to the Estate, we do want to say "thank you" for their vast and readily accessible knowledge. This site was not created to promote the writings of Ellen White, nor to prove that she was inspired. While we do believe that she was inspired—and by the same Holy Spirit that inspired the apostle Paul and all of the prophets of God—we do not here set out to show this. Ellen-White.com was set up solely as a response to a number of individuals on the Internet who have brought certain allegations against her and/or her writings. There is plenty of material available elsewhere (see our links below) to show the honest Bible student that both Ellen White and her writings do indeed pass the biblical tests of a prophet. If any of you have come across the sites of individuals who attack Ellen White's writings we recommend that you show these people kindness and if you must email them, please tell them that you desire no conflict with them, but rather are praying that the Holy Spirit lead all of us into all the unity of the truth. We want to fulfill Christ's admonition to "love one another." Life is too short and souls too precious to harbor any anger towards those who attack Ellen White. Anger and grudges are the cancer of the soul. Hang onto them and they will eat your very life away. Hatred begets hatred, and mockery begets mockery. But love and happiness beget showers of blessings and joy in return. Truth, in the end, will always triumph; let that be your comfort. We welcome your comments. If
you appreciate what we are trying to do, drop us a line. If you
completely disagree with us, you're welcome to express that, too (But
please be kind, okay? We can lovingly agree to disagree.). If
you support us in general, but have suggestions or additions for some of
the answers and explanations we present, your advice is certainly welcome.
Please use the (updated 4/'07) links to the left to browse this site and others. We are updating constantly so please check back often. ONLY THIS EMAIL WORKS: (please read Q&A before emailing) God bless you and check back weekly...
SOME GOOD ADVICE WHEN EXAMINING THESE ISSUES "True Christian love cherished in the heart and exemplified in the life, would teach us to put the best possible construction upon the course of our brethren. We should be as jealous of their reputation as of our own. If we are forever suspecting evil, this very fact will so shape their course of action as to produce the very evil which we have allowed ourselves to suspect. In this way, a great many difficulties are manufactured that otherwise would never have had birth, and brethren are often wronged by our being suspicious, free to judge their motives, and express our opinion to others in regard to their actions. That which one may be ready to construe into grave wrongs, may be no more than we ourselves are chargeable with every day." --Ellen G. White (Review and Herald, April 15, 1880. "How can I help?" 1) Pray for us (whether you support us or disagree with us) 2) Place a link to our site on your website 3) Tell Others about our site (via email, word of mouth, etc.) 4) Check back often 5) Inform us of any
and all Pro- and Anti- Ellen White web sites and resources (books,
sermons, magazine articles, ANYTHING, old or new) that you come across on the
Internet or elsewhere. If you have heard any good sermons on this
subject and it has been recorded let us know. We plan on adding
audio downloads soon. Because we have various people researching these issues at any given time (and because we live in different states) we sometimes need more than one copy of a book that presents or refutes charges against Ellen White. We accept no money donations, but we would appreciate any donations of used books, tapes, articles, etc. that deal with this subject (either pro or con). Interested parties please email us. A great place to find such books is at LNFBOOKS.COM.
RESEARCH MATERIAL A note about books defending Ellen White: It has come to our attention that certain authors defending Ellen White (whether in books, magazines, or websites) have chosen to take an approach that casts doubt upon the accuracy and authority of what is deemed "New Testament prophets" as opposed to "Old Testament prophets." The concept is that while God superintended the writings of Old Testament prophets to the extent where they are completely error-free, the same cannot be said for New Testament prophets. In other words, according to this new view, there has been an allowance for errors on the part of NT prophets, and Ellen White is placed in that category. While we may not doubt the sincerity of such authors, we cannot accept such a view as biblical and true, for it not only contradicts what the Bible says of its own writers (as well as what Ellen White said of hers) but it sets forth a type of prophet that never existed in the past. It also casts doubt upon the character and consistency of God as the Overseer of those writings. We can expect this sort of "defense" to grow as we near the end of time and we advise all sincere believers to be careful not to trust everything that, on the surface, seems to defend Ellen White. It is our pledge to you that we will only feature books below that are in harmony with the Word of God and it's clear position on the role of prophets, both Old Testament and New, as well as what Ellen White always said about her own writings. Ellen G. White and Her Critics by Francis D. Nichol Most of the allegations that are floating around today are simply resurrected charges that were answered decades ago by Francis Nichol in this classic book. A handy reference tool for anyone concerned about the critics of Ellen G. White. (hardcover, 703 pages) |

1844 Made Simple by Clifford Goldstein We list this book because a good share of the criticism against Ellen White focuses on the Adventist (and Ellen White) belief in the Investigative Judgment. Goldstein not only explains the doctrine in a clear, concise manner, but answers the objections raised by critics of this belief. A "must read" for anyone who wants to understand what really happened in 1844. (paperback, 96 pages; also available in Spanish and French) |
